Finding True Success

When we take action, but we’re attached to some result in the outside world, we won’t necessarily feel we’ve succeeded. We can’t control everything that happens in our life situation, and the more we try to make every little part of our lives look the way we want it to, the more we’re going to feel disappointed or like we’ve failed.

What’s important is the intention to take action, and to offer our gifts to the world in the best way we know how today. Once we set that intention to keep taking action, giving love, creativity, and sharing our talents, the more our intention begins to create results. We’re more likely to have good things coming back to us because that’s what we’re sending out.

Sending out what our hearts have to give makes us happier and is the beginning of a beautiful cycle. But if we sit around wondering if we should have given our love or gifts because they weren’t appreciated the way we expected or we didn’t get the results we wanted, then we’re in danger of being caught up in attachment, judgment and resistance. Instead of appreciating our own efforts and accepting our feelings with compassion, too often we get stuck listening to the unkind thoughts our mind produces and spinning our wheels for hours.

When we get up and do what it takes to reconnect to the level of love, we can shed light on the machinations of the critical mind and observe with clarity where we went off track. True success means we keep moving forward even when it’s difficult. We can use our heart’s guidance to bring us back to our true intention of sending out love, creativity, and all our unique gifts to the world. Not the intention to receive some specific result, but the intention to give from the heart and let the results take care of themselves.

Here are affirmations that may be helpful reminders:

Today, I set the intention to offer my love and gifts to the world in the best way I know how.

I let go of attachment to results, and I give from the heart.

I accept my feelings with kindness and compassion, and I appreciate all of my efforts.
