The Challenge of Peace
The challenge is to find peace in the midst of the noise, in the chaos and unhappiness that show up in our daily lives. Can we include even the difficult people in our circle of compassion? Can we allow our circumstances to be as they are in the present moment, even when we’re unhappy with the situation?
Every day is a journey with a new starting point. As we work toward beneficial outcomes for all, can we let go of resistance toward the imperfections in the process?
Rather than allowing life’s imperfection to tangle us up in stress and drama, we can let our experience challenge and teach us. We can take control of our own reactions to people and circumstances rather than unconsciously replaying our negative patterns.
Peace is always here if we invite it into our hearts. Our challenge is not to let circumstances control us, but to open ourselves to compassion and peace in the midst of it all, to acceptance of this moment. Even as we work for a better life and a better world, our first step is finding peace with what is, and doing this over and over again.
Here are affirmations that may be helpful reminders:
I allow circumstances to be as they are and invite peace into my heart as I work to make life better for myself and those around me.
I include myself and all people in my circle of compassion, even the difficult ones who need it the most. My heart is filled with peace and loving kindness for all.
When I’m caught in stress and drama, I send compassion to all involved and use this experience to challenge and teach me a better way.
