On Gratitude and Joy
“Joy comes to us in moments—ordinary moments.” –Brené Brown, Ph.D., LMSW
So often we miss coming back into the present moment and appreciating the beauty we find there when we step back from the worries and conflicts of life.
When we step away from the story-telling mind, there’s always something to be grateful for. And through gratitude, we change the focus from all that’s missing in our lives to all we have. From what might be imperfect to appreciating the unique qualities of those we love, and even our own uniqueness.
This moment will never come again and all of us are impermanent. Let’s appreciate the love, connection and beauty we do have in our lives, and create more joy in the process.
Here are some affirmations that may be helpful reminders:
I’m grateful for the beauty of the earth.
I give thanks for the loving connections in my life.
I’m grateful for the changing of the seasons.
I already have all I need to be at peace.
I’m thankful for my journey of life.
